Welcome to Ortloff’s
Culture of love…love for God and love for all.
Ortloff’s was established in 1994 as a Kindergarten with a total of 6 children. Over the years Ortloff’s has grown into a fully functioning Kindergarten, taking children in from 1 years up to Grade R.
What makes Ortloff’s unique is that we strive to make Ortloff’s a home away from home. We lay a solid foundation for the children, letting them explore the wonders around us, equipping the classes with various equipment and resources.
Keeping in mind that a lot of parents work in the Gauteng area and surrounding mines, who’s work puts them on the road often, our boarding house, Garaipha, was opened in 2012. Garaipha Boarding house is also located on the school premises.
After careful consideration and several requests from parents, the decision was made to start Ortloff’s Preparatory School in 2016.
We started our first Grade 1 class with 12 pupils and 1 teacher. We currently (2020) have 185 pupils up to Grade 5 in our Preparatory, and 113 children from 1Year – Grade RR in the Kindergarten.
In 2017 the building project started. As a symbol of our principal’s view for the new Preparatory, a Bible was placed in the foundation of the building.
“Homes are built on the foundation of wisdom and understanding. Where there is knowledge, the rooms are furnished with valuable, beautiful things.”
A prayer was prayed over the new building and each learner and staff member added a stone to the foundation.
After the passing of principal Lindie’s father, Mees Neethling, the new building was named Mees in his honour as he funded this building project.
In 2018 we officially opened our Library, a cosy area where the pupils can get their hands on a good book and dive into a world of fantasy, exploration, mystical or educational experience.
Some of the books in the Library was generously donated by ACSI.
On the 13th of January 2020 the Mees Building was completed and officially opened by principal Lindie.
We will be implementing our first Grade 6 class in 2021 and add our last grade, Grade 7 in 2022.
